MP pedals for the Poppy Factory
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has taken part in a sponsored "24-hour static cycle" event in Parliament, to show support and raise funds for the Poppy Factory, a charity who help ex-service personnel find new employment after leaving the Armed Forces.
The event was organised by the Industry and Parliament Trust and took place on the 7th-8th of November. Participants were each invited to cycle for 10 minutes at a time, reaching a total of 280 miles; the equivalent to cycling from the Houses of Parliament in Westminster to the European Parliament in Brussels. Tim joined over 40 MPs, the Deputy Serjeant at Arms, Mr. Speaker, security officers and even the Military Wives to show support for the charity.
The Poppy Factory were set up in 1922 to help injured, wounded and sick ex-service personnel into employment, as well as directly employing ex-service personnel to make poppies, wreaths and Remembrance Crosses for the Royal British Legion.

"Like many people across Cumbria I wear my poppy with pride to help remember those soldiers who have fallen, but the Poppy Factory goes a step further and does fantastic work to help men and women who have made enormous sacrifices serving our country to find jobs again. It is an honour to help them raise funds"
