MP pays tribute to Stewart Hulse
Local MP Tim Farron and Vice Chair of All-Party Parliamentary Group for Mountain Rescue has paid tribute to Stuart Hulse, who passed away on Saturday, as a 'wonderful man, good friend and fantastic campaigner for our Mountain Rescue teams.'
Stewart Hulse MBE who lived in Windermere, died on Saturday aged 78. He was one of the founders of the Ambleside Fell Rescue Team and later served as both president and team leader of Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team.
Tim said: "Stewart was a fantastic champion for our Mountain Rescue teams - and a tremendous footballer in his earlier years. But he was more than that; he was a colleague and friend. He gave me support and advice whenever I needed it. The money I was able to secure from the Government for our rescue teams was down to him - his ideas and advice. I remember how much time we spent together lobbying the Government on this issue - together we did this. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Joan, children Caroline and David and grandchildren Abby, Benjamin and Rebecca."
