South Lakes MP Tim Farron joined volunteers in Kendal as they prepared gift-filled shoeboxes for their journey to children in Romania.

The Christmas shoebox appeal, run by charity Teams4U, will benefit children living in extreme poverty - many who may never have received a Christmas present before.

Tim visited the Kendal HQ of the charity on Monday at the Shap Road Industrial Estate, where he met the staff and filled his own shoebox to send to Romania.

Teams4U will be checking boxes on Monday 19th November until the send off on Friday 23rd November.

Tim said: "It was wonderful to join the staff and to pay tribute to the hard work of Polly, Rosemary, Dave Cooke and the team at Teams4U. I enjoyed packing my shoebox, knowing that these gifts could make someone's Christmas and bring a smile to the face of a less fortunate child."
