South Lakes MP Tim Farron yesterday cut the ribbon to open a new extension at Holgates Caravan Park, as part of a series of events to celebrate 60 years of the park.

An afternoon tea was held yesterday with 150 guests to celebrate the opening of the new extension at Holgates Caravan Park. Festivities will continue over the weekend with a beer festival and family fun day planned, as well as a 1950s band to take visitors back to 1956 - the year Holgates was created.

Tim said: "It was great to open the new facilities at Holgates Caravan Park, and to see how the business is going from strength to strength. Along with the rest of the activities planned over the weekend, this event was a lovely way to celebrate 60 years of Holgates. Our area is one of the most beautiful in the country, and parks like this help to attract tourists to our area."
