MP launches petition to save Cartmel Peninsula bus service
This morning, Cumbrian MP Tim Farron has started a petition calling for the bus service which serves the Cartmel Peninsula to be saved.
From 20th July, the 530/532 bus service which serves the Cartmel Peninsula will be withdrawn after the bus company Travellers Choice lost the school contract.
The bus goes round the peninsula, stopping at Lindale, Grange, Allithwaite, Flookburgh, Cartmel and Cark, before taking passengers into Kendal.
Tim said: "Losing the peninsula's bus service would be a huge loss for the many people who don't have a car, to local businesses, and it would also be a backwards step in our fight to reduce carbon emissions here in Cumbria.
"The Government has heavily cut funding for local councils to provide services like buses, but it's important that all options are explored to keep a bus service in Cartmel, Grange and our local villages running.
"That's why I've today launched a petition calling on bus companies and local councils to work together to find a solution to save this bus service."
