Tim Farron met with local teenagers to step up the campaign for a new skate park at Beezon Fields in Kendal.

Local young people have raised £60,000 including £10,000 from the District Council to build a new skate and wheel park. However, the Environment Agency has held up planning for the new park with questions about its potential impact on the Crayfish population in the River Kent.

Tim has now pressed the Environment Agency to give the go ahead to the plans and is backing the plans that are soon to be resubmitted to the Council's planning committee.

Tim said: "We desperately need the skate park in Kendal, the young people have worked really hard to raise the money and SLDC have been really supportive. We know that the Environment Agency do good work, but it's important here that they give their blessing to the plans so that we can get on with building the skate park. We have got brilliant young people in Kendal, and they deserve the support of the whole community."
