MP invites Transport Secretary to Cumbria to make Kendal northern access route a reality

19 Oct 2017

Local MP Tim Farron has today invited the Transport Secretary to meet with him and local business leaders to make the northern access route in Kendal a reality.

Speaking in the House of Commons this morning, Chris Grayling said that he would be happy to meet and although he was unaware of the scheme, has set aside money for bypass roads in congested towns like Kendal.

Tim said: "This route would ease congestion in our town and give a huge boost to the employment areas off Shap Road and Appleby Road.

"The gridlock we've had when the M6 has been closed recently has made the need for this new road all the more obvious.

"The minister said he'll meet with me to discuss the plans - I'm determined this bypass should be built."
