MP invites residents to make their views known on new Grasmere Post Office

14 Apr 2014
South Lakes MP Tim Farron visited the site of Grasmere’s new Post Office on Monday morning.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron is asking local residents to make their views heard ahead on the new Grasmere Post Office at The Old Coach House.

Post Office Ltd have written to Tim to tell him that they are considering making some changes to their plans for the new Post Office, which is located in The Old Coach House, Grasmere.

Under the proposals:

  • Post Office services would be offered from a till on the retail counter in a modern open plan branch instead of the separate open plan counter.
  • The branch would be open for longer: Mon-Sun 09.00-18.00. (Current times are Mon-Fri 10.00-16.30).
  • Customers will still have most of the Post Office services and products available but some will be discontinued-including Parcelforce Worldwide International parcels, Transcash services, NS&I Premium Savings Bonds, and on demand Travel Insurance. These services will be available in Ambleside, and some will be available online.
  • The branch may need to close for approximately three days during May 2014 for refurbishment.

The Post Office is keen to hear your views. You can take part in their consultation online by navigating to postofficeviews.co.uk and entering reference code 24041899.

You can also send an email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, telephone at 08457 22 33 44, or by writing to them. The full address is 'FREEPOST Your Comment'. (Please note this is the full address to use and no further details are required.)

The closing date for the consultation is 9 May 2014.

Tim said: "It is fantastic news that we have a post office back in Grasmere, but it is vital that residents of Grasmere make their views known about the Post Office.

"It is good that the Post Office is opening this consultation and I really would encourage everyone to take part."
