Local MP Tim Farron has cut the ribbon at the launch of a new electric pink boat onto the waters of Windermere in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The boat is available to hire from Windermere Quays Electric Boat Hire and will help raise money through their match-funding initiative.

The boat, which holds up to ten people, will cost an extra £5 per hour. Windermere Quays have pledged to match the extra £5 so that for each hour the boat is hired £10 will go to Cancer Research UK.

Tim said: "This is a fantastic initiative from Windermere Quays.

"Everyone has someone close to them who has been affected by cancer, and so it's great that this new boat will raise money for a charity which does amazing work in fighting cancer.

"And I want to pay tribute to our local cancer research teams, especially the team in Kendal who hot-footed it from their coffee morning to be at the launch in Bowness on Saturday."
