MP hails 'fantastic' comic arts event
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has hailed the fantastic comic arts weekend and has welcomed the news that the event looks like it is coming back next year!
Last weekend Kendal was full of the creative line-up of artists, featuring some of the biggest names in comic art and reflecting the diversity of the genre from political cartoons to superhero comics. Organisers of the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival say they're planning to bring the event back to Kendal next year.
Thousands of fans from across the globe came to Kendal over the weekend to meet some of the artists behind the world's most famous super heroes and comic book characters. Organisers of the event have hailed its first year "a huge success" and have pencilled in dates to bring the festival back to Kendal from the 17th-19th October next year.
Tim said: "Kendal was buzzing and had an amazing atmosphere. It was a brilliant event and I want to thank Julie Tait and her team for their amazing efforts. It is great that they are looking to bring the festival back again next year.
"With Comic Arts, we have added another event to our growing calendar of activities - from Torchlight to the Wool Gathering to the Mountain Festival, Kendal is the rural arts hub of the north and long may that continue!"
