MP demands immediate Government intervention as fears that personal protective equipment in Cumbria’s care homes is set to run out by the end of the week

Local MP Tim Farron says there are huge fears among people working in social care in Cumbria that they could run out of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the end of the week.

In the event that they have no PPE, care homes would be unable to safely take discharged patients from hospital.

Tim said: "Our care workers are doing an absolutely outstanding job caring for our loved ones in the most difficult of circumstances - alongside our amazing NHS workers, we owe them an enormous debt.

"But they are being left at huge risk.

"And if we end up with a situation that care homes are unable to safely take discharged hospital patients, then this will put even further strain on our already overstretched health service.

"It's absolutely crucial that the Government does not allow Cumbria to run out of PPE over the next few days so we can keep our carers safe and those that they care for safe."
