MP congratulates Kendal College for securing £1 million for arts centre

1 Dec 2009

Local MP Tim Farron has today congratulated Kendal College for securing over £1m of funding for a new arts campus on Wildman Street. Tim has joined college principal Graham Wilkinson in lobbying the North West Development Agency over the last few months for the release of these funds.

The proposed project will link the Allen Building, Kendal Museum and the 14th century grade 1 listed building, the Castle Dairy, allowing the college to create an education hub in the heart of Kendal.

The new arts centre will have facilities for performing arts, dance and music, sound, lighting and recording workshops.

Tim says, "I believe this is fantastic news for Kendal and I am delighted to hear all the college's hard work has come to fruition. Under the leadership of Graham Wilkinson and his management team the college has gone from strength to strength and I want to pay tribute to them. In a recession this is the time to invest in young people and in their education and skills so to see this happening in our area is great."
