South Lakes MP Tim Farron used Topical Questions in Parliament today to ask for the Government to prioritise local flood relief schemes after the recent bad weather.

Tim asked Minsters to support proposed flood schemes on the River Kent to be prioritised. Flooding Minister Dan Rogerson MP replied and said he'd meet with Tim to look at the plans closely.

Tim said: "Residents and businesses need certainty and we need to make sure that communities are protected. Last weeks bad weather shows that more funding must be spent on flood defences. I'm pressing the government to look at all the local schemes and I hope that meeting government ministers on the matter will allow me to make the case at the highest levels of government."
