Local MP Tim Farron has called on bosses of computer retailer Game to be clear about their future plans for both their store and staff based in Kendal.

Ten thousand jobs and more than 600 shops are under threat after computer games specialist Game warned it is on the brink of collapse. Shares in the group slumped by more than 60 per cent yesterday to around 1p each as executives warned they could be worthless.

The chain has been hurt by a relationship breakdown with some leading games producers, who refused to supply new titles

Tim has called on the businesses to let our community know their future plans. Game have a store in the Market Place in Kendal.

Commenting today Tim said: "I have today written to Game asking them for assurances over their future plans. I want to protect local jobs and I am keen to work with them to protect their staff and keep their local shop open."
