MP bids farewell to Prime Minister Blair

27 Jun 2007

Local MP, Tim Farron was present in the House of Commons today for Tony Blair's last appearance behind the Despatch Box at Prime Minister's Question Time.

Afterwards, Mr Farron said:

"I wouldn't want to begrudge Tony Blair his final day on the big stage, clearly he has achieved much in his 10 years in power, not least of which was the peace agreement in Northern Ireland. Serving as Prime Minister for 10 years is in itself an achievement, as is seeing off four Conservative leaders.

"However, like most South Lakeland residents I am itching for the pantomime to be over so that we can get down to the serious business of fighting to save our post offices, health services and a vibrant future for rural areas."
