South Lakes MP Tim Farron has taken the Westmorland Gazette's 'Wheels for Will' campaign to Westminster, by tabling a motion in Parliament calling for support and donations to the appeal.

The campaign launched in this week's Westmorland Gazette comes in the wake of a tragic accident which left outdoor loving Will Clark, 27, from Ambleside paralysed from the neck down and restricted to a wheel chair for the rest of his life. The appeal is focused on raising the £25,000 needed to buy a specially adapted rough terrain quad bike that Will can operate using an amazing hi-tech helmet using chin movements, which will give him back some of the freedom he used to enjoy in the Lakes.

Tim has added his support to the campaign to help restore a better quality of life for Will, who used to enjoying fell running and taking part in other charity outdoor activities such as bike rides and swims in the Lakes before his accident. Tim has tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament to draw attention to the campaign and increase support and donation to reach the £25,000 target.

Commenting Tim said: "To suffer such a horrific accident at such a young age is incredibly tragic for anyone, but for Will, who loved to make the most of the Lakes around him it is even more so. For many this would left them in a state of desperation, but we can ensure that this does not happen to Will, by helping to raise the money for this fantastic piece of technology that will give him back some of the freedom he once knew.

"Sometimes a very small gesture can make an incredible difference in someone's life, this is one of those occasions. That is why I am personally donating to the appeal as well as taking it to parliament to ensure that as many people as possible get involved and give money to get Will back out on the fells once again."
