MP backs NFU campaign to cut dog attacks against livestock
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has backed a campaign by the NFU to try and curb the amount of attacks by dogs on livestock.
Latest figures show there were more than 700 cases of sheep and cattle worrying on farms across the country last year costing farmers an estimated £1 million. Tim is supporting the NFU's 'Love your countryside' campaign which aims to highlight how to keep safe when out walking in fields with livestock and help to protect livestock.
Tim said: "I am supporting the NFU's campaign and I hope that by farmers and walkers working together we can cut the amount of livestock attacks. Walking in the Lakes is something we all love do and as a dog owner myself I know it's a great place to go. However I also understand the concerns of farmers and want to see the number of attacks fall sharply."
