South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the Westmorland Gazette's campaign urging local people to think about adopting a child and 'giving a child a home'.

The Gazette's campaign - You Could Be Their Someone - recognises that some local families might be able to offer a home to a child in need. Children over the age of three, have to wait on average over six months for a home.

For people interested in further information about adopting please phone 0303 333 1216 or visit www.cumbria.gov.uk/adoption.

Tim said: "Adopting a child can really change their life. It will make a massive difference and will help some of most vulnerable children in our community.

"I know that many people think about the idea of adopting a child and I hope that this campaign will convince people to take the extra step and get more information. Together we can help more children a place they can call home."
