South Lakes MP Tim Farron has backed a campaign being run by the new Chairman of Cumbria County Council trying to raise money for 100 defibrillators in 100 days.

Tim has also asked local businesses and councils to suggest public spaces to house them. The plan is to purchase defibrillators that are fitted inside a secure metal box with key code access. Each box will then be placed outside community buildings and in town centres so that if an emergency occurs the 999 service will give the caller the location of the nearest machine along with the key code so that treatment can be administered while the ambulance is on its way.

Tim said: "For the last couple of years I have called for more defibrillators to be available in public areas so I am delighted to be backing this campaign. This is fantastic and something I wholeheartedly support. I hope local residents will support the campaign and people will suggest spaces to hold them."
