MP backs Armed Forces Day

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called on the local councils to mark Armed Forces Day to show our appreciation for their service.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has praised service personnel as the UK prepares to celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday 28th June.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show our support for the whole of the Armed Forces Community, from Serving Personnel to Forces Families and Cadets. It is also an opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our county for those who serve and who have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces.

Tim said: "Armed Forces Day is a great chance for us all to stop and reflect on the courage and dedication of all those who proudly serve, away from their friends, families and loved ones.

"This year, we also remember the centenary of World War One and the seventieth anniversary of D-Day. Both these events serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our armed forces. We must never forget the debt our country owes to those men and women who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

"The bravery displayed by members of our Armed Forces is second to none and their selfless contribution to our society reflects the best of Britain. Armed Forces Day gives us a chance to thank them for all that they do."
