Grange's MP Tim Farron is asking residents in the town and on the Cartmel Peninsula to get involved in a consultation about the future of the historic Lido.

South Lakeland District Council (SLDC), in partnership with Grange Over Sands Town Council, are inviting ideas to support Grange-Over-Sands Lido bring back into use. This survey is a part of the first stage of the process. If a sustainable use can be identified and funds secured (such as Heritage Lottery Funding) this could be possible. SLDC would need to consider the Lido being open all year round, offering an exciting and broad programme of events, activities, classes and more for all ages.

Grange Lido was designed by Grange over Sands urban district council surveyor Bernard Smith. It closed it's doors to the public in 1993. In 2012 the building was given grade II listed status by English Heritage.

The questionnaire about the future of the Lido can be found here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BznOinbnnOSjcmdMYkR3UUMzVkE/edit and the consultation runs until the 1st September.

Tim said: "The Lido is an art-deco gem and if we can restore it to it's old glory that would be fantastic! It is now one a small handful of seaside lidos in Britain not pulled down or concreted over.

"But what is more important is that the residents are heard and that we can find out what they want to happen. I will work with Grange Town Council, SLDC and the community to make sure we get the best outcome for local residents."
