South Lakes MP Tim Farron has joined with the Anthony Nolan Trust and Alice Pyne to ask local residents to join the bone marrow register.

Cumbrian Alice Pyne attracted the attention of the world's media when she published her "bucket list" online. At the top of that list was her wish to recruit as many people as possible to the Anthony Nolan stem cell donor register.

Tim has teamed up with the Anthony Nolan Trust to ask local residents to sign up and make the difference today. Joining the stem cell donor register is simple and it's all explained on the Anthony Nolan website. Just go to mp.anthonynolan.org and enter the code E5WX for details.

Tim is supporting the campaign that is trying to reach men in the crucial 18-30 age bracket which is needed for 'high quality' bone marrow.

Tim said: "Seeing Alice's story has made me want to do my little bit like thousands of people all across our community. By joining the bone marrow register you can help save a life today. There are nearly 1,600 people in the UK in need of a bone marrow transplant. This is usually their last chance of survival. If you have five minutes to spare today please sign up and help save a life."
