South Lakes MP Tim Farron has applauded two QES students for their positive involvement with the Kirkby Lonsdale Town Council.

Joshua Norman and Rachael Todner, assistant head boy and head girl at QueenElizabethSchool, have been praised for their commitment and support for their local community.

The pair won special certificates recognising their involvement in the deliberations and decision-making of Kirkby Lonsdale Town Council, which were presented to them by County Councillor Geoff Cook. Joshua and Rachel are co-opted members of the town council and attend meetings to provide a young person's perspective on local matters, as well as suggesting new topics for discussion.

Local MP Tim Farron has written a letter to the pair saying "I was delighted to learn that you had both received certificates to recognise your commitment and support for the Kirkby Lonsdale Town Council.

"It is very encouraging to see young people getting involved in politics, especially with you being assistant head boy and girl".
