Local MP to become Castaway, but needs your telephone number…and your money!

20 May 2008

Local MP Tim Farron will join others marooned on one of the Lillies of the Valley islands on Windermere this Thursday to raise money for the National Children's Homes Charity.

Tim will be dumped on the island on Thursday 22 May with only his mobile phone. He will then need to use his phone to persuade businesses and individuals to sponsor the rescue mission to return him to shore! All money raised will go to National Children's Homes, with Tim and other participants needing to raise £1,000 each or else they will be left on the island indefinitely!

Commenting, Tim Farron MP said:

"I am aware that the thought of keeping me stranded on an island might please some people, but I hope that they will still pledge money to help the outstanding work of National Children's Homes!

"National Children's Homes is a fantastic charity which helps children, young people and families who are suffering from poverty, disability and abuse, and helping children and young people reach their potential . "

Tim is asking local businesses to contact him with their telephone number and a promise of a donation to NCH before he sets off this Thursday morning. Anyone wishing to help in this fundraiser should call 01539 723403.
