Local MP meets young people on the football pitch

Local MP Tim Farron met the South Lakes' youngest residents on Friday, 17 April when he hosted a 5-a-side football competitions at multi-use games areas across the district.

Mr. Farron talked to younger members of the community whose voices aren't often heard in politics, and listened to their concerns on issues affecting the area and their hopes for the future.

Whilst he was looking forward to a frank exchange of views, Mr Farron was nonetheless glad that the debates were resolved off the pitch, as he himself played in goals alongside South Lakes' aspiring footballers.

Tim Farron MP said: "It was fantastic to meet the young people who will be inheriting the decisions we make today. It was a great chance to meet them and hear their perspective on our community, as well as the challenge of facing such youthful opposition on the pitch!"
