Local Liberal Democrat councillors Doug Rathbone, Helen Ladhams, Eamonn Hennessy and Jonathan Brook have started a petition to make it safer for pedestrians to cross Burton Road.

Currently there is no pedestrian phase on the lights, making it difficult for people to cross this busy junction.

Every day people need to cross this junction, including children walking to and from Heron Hill Primary School, as well as people walking to Helme Chase Surgery.

Helen says, "This is a really dangerous junction, especially for children and elderly residents and those who struggle with their mobility.

"A pedestrian phase on the lights is an absolute no brainer and would make it so much safer for everyone.

"Please do sign the petition today."
