South Lakeland MP Tim Farron met in parliament this week with representatives from Kendal Disability Youth Group who received a prestigious national award.

Kendal Disability Youth Club gives young people with disabilities the opportunity to be active and have fun. It is run by ten volunteers, and is supported by help from carers and families.

Representatives from the Youth Group visited parliament to receive Sport England's Satellite Club of the Year award. The awards were presented by the Minister for Sport and Tourism Tracey Crouch, alongside Sport England's Chief Executive Jennie Price. Tim met the representatives from the group to discuss the group's activities and congratulate them on their achievement.

The club was originally based at Sandgate School and is now supported by North Country Leisure.

Tim said: "I'm delighted that Kendal Disability Youth Group has won this award. It is a well-deserved recognition of the fantastic work that the club does for young people with disabilities in our area. The youth group is a great way for members to meet others, stay active, and have fun. My thanks go to all those who dedicate their time and effort to making the group a success."
