HS2 broken promise shows you can’t trust a word the Conservatives say - MP
Reacting to Rishi Sunak’s announcement that he is cancelling the HS2 line to Manchester, Cumbrian MP Tim Farron said: “This is yet another broken promise from a Conservative Government who simply cannot be trusted to keep their word.
“They broke their promise on keeping the pension triple lock, on not raising national insurance, on building 40 new hospitals, and today on building HS2 to Manchester.
“And Rishi Sunak now claims he is going to spend billions on transport projects across the North – pull the other one!
“The truth is that the Conservative Party don’t care about the North and are happy to take us for fools.
“We need a General Election so people here in the North can show the Conservatives what they think of politicians who break their promises and take us for granted.”
