Former Tory MP visits Lib Dems for coffee morning

20 Feb 2008

The former Conservative Member of Parliament for Blackpool North, Harold Elletson is visiting Tim Farron's constituency this Friday for a coffee morning with local members of the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Elletson was served as MP for Blackpool North from 1992 to 1997, and in his time as an MP served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Michael Ancram, the Northern Ireland Minister at the time. He defected to the Liberal Democrats in 2002.

Tim Farron said:

"I am delighted to be welcoming Harold to the constituency, the fact that a former Tory MP from the North West has joined our party speaks volumes about how far we have come.

"This will be an excellent opportunity for members in our area to meet Harold."
