Farron welcomes new chairman of Natural England
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the New Chair of Natural England to his role and asked for a meeting to discuss their work.
Mr Andrew Sells has been confirmed as the Chairman of Natural England. Mr Sells is expected to take up the post on 20 January 2014. In a report published by the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee on 13 December, the Committee concluded:
"We are satisfied that Andrew Sells has the professional competence and personal independence required for the post of Chairman of Natural England and that he will be well placed to lead the organisation. We therefore welcome his nomination and encourage the Secretary of State to make the appointment. We wish Mr Sells every success in his new post."
As Chair of the Parliamentary All Party Group on Hill Farming, Tim wants to meet with Andrew to discuss the plight of hill farmers and work to keep pressing the case for agriculture in Westminster.
Tim said: "I want to congratulate Andrew for his appointment as the new chair of Natural England. It's a vital position and I hope that working together we can make sure that hill farmers are heard in Westminster. I hope that we can meet soon to push this forward and work together for local farmers."
