Farron welcomes high speed broadband to the Kent Estuary

South Lakes MP, Tim Farron, is today welcoming news that thanks to Kendal based company Kencomp Internet, residents and businesses across Levens, Brigsteer, Underbarrow, Crosthwaite, Lindale, Meathop, Heversham, Foulshaw, Sandside, Arnside and Storth will have the opportunity to access broadband speeds of up to 20Mb/s.

Kencomp internet are even providing an offer of free installation, worth up to £350, for the first 100 residential customers to sign up in the Levens and Lyth Valley Estuary network.

This high speed broadband, which makes use of microwave radio technology and doesn't require a phone line, will enable users to watch TV catch-up online, stream films and music and use online communications like Skype without interruption. It will also help businesses to keep up to date with latest technology and help farmers to access complicated online forms for processing important payments.

Commenting Tim said: "I am absolutely delighted that Kencomp Internet has been able to put together this fantastic package for people living and working in the Kent Estuary area. It is brilliant news that residents and businesses will now have access to faster broadband, enabling them to access the internet on a whole new level.

"I have long been campaigning for high speed broadband in Cumbria as it is absolutely essential to enabling rural areas to live up to their full economic potential. This is a fantastic step in the right direction, but we must not rest here, we must keep fighting and campaigning until everyone in the South Lakes has access to highest broadband speeds."
