South Lakes MP Tim Farron visited St. Mary's Primary School in Kirkby Lonsdale to speak to students and discuss his role as an MP.

Tim met on Friday with Year 5 and 6 pupils for a Q&A session, in which he was quizzed about his views and campaigns in the local area. The Year 5 pupils had first spoken to local residents about the issues they were concerned about, in order to then question Tim about what he was doing to address these issues.

The pupils asked Tim about a range of issues, but there was a particular focus on the impact of the recent floods and the effect it was having on local farmers.

Tim said: "I hugely enjoyed my visit to St. Mary's Primary School. It was fantastic to see how well the students engaged with local issues, and their concern for their community was a credit to them.

"It was great to face such robust questioning from the students. Holding elected representatives to account is a key part of democracy, and these students did themselves proud."
