Farron - Transport for the North's plan "not that northern"

16 Jan 2018

Transport for the North (TfN) today released a strategic plan for infrastructure investment. South Lakes MP Tim Farron, commented:

"This plan doesn't seem to help rural or semi-rural communities in the slightest.

"There is no new vision for upgrading and improving ordinary rail services in the North.

"This plan is all about the big cities, but what about the places on the outskirts and in between cities? What about rural areas and smaller towns?

"This is a Northern Powerhouse that is clearly not that northern."
