Farron tops up New Holehird survival fund

22 Jan 2008

Local MP Tim Farron was pleased to accept a cheque for £100 from the Kendal branch of the Natwest Bank towards the campaign to save the Holehird home for severely disabled adults near Windermere.

Holehird is run by the Leonard Cheshire Foundation but the Foundation have given notice that they are planning to withdraw in the near future. The New Holehird Trust is raising funds to save the home and Tim Farron has raised money over the last three years to help the Trust through his annual 'triathlon' - running, sailing and cycling the full length of his large rural constituency.

Tim Farron said:

"Holehird is an outstanding and unique home for the residents who live there, and a focus for over a hundred volunteers who give their time to help with the running of the home and the keeping of the building and the grounds. It would be an absolute tragedy for the community to lose Holehird.

"I am grateful to Natwest for donating this money, every little helps and I know that this money will be put to very good use!"
