Farron to open Kendal Eco Fair

27 Mar 2008

This Saturday will see local MP Tim Farron opening Kendal Eco Fair, an event held at the Castle Street Centre in Kendal. The event, organised by South Lakeland Action on Climate Change, aims to show how people can live greener lives, through a variety of talks and workshops. Visitors can also enjoy visiting the many diverse stalls, with activities such as face painting and a White Elephant stall.

South Lakeland Action on Climate Change is a group which was founded in March 2007 in order to raise awareness of climate change locally and what people can do in order to help prevent it.

After leaving the Eco Fair, Tim will head off straight to Langdale to begin his 24 mile cycle and run trial to Westmorland General Hospital to raise funds for the legal bid to stop the closure of Kendal's heart unit.

Tim Farron MP - a founder member of SLACC - said:

"There are many ways in which we can all make a difference to the environment, which when added together have a major impact on the fight against climate change. Simple things like recycling, using energy-efficient light bulbs and introducing household water efficiency measures can really make a contribution! I'm looking forward to learning how I can reduce my carbon footprint further."

"In addition, I am of course eagerly anticipating the many enjoyable events on offer - I for one cannot wait to hear the compost bin drumming!"
