Farron praises local company for charity efforts
Tim Farron yesterday visited Windermere-based company McClure's to draw the tickets in their grand raffle, which raised over £1200 for the Stroke Association.
The McClure's Grand Raffle was this year in aid of the Stroke Association, which helps change the lives of those affected by stroke and funds cutting-edge treatments. The raffle coincided with 'Make May Purple' - the organisation's annual stroke awareness month.
Tim visited McClure's to draw tickets for the raffle, which included over 40 fantastic prizes donated by customers and suppliers.
The raffle raised over £600, and this amount was doubled by McClure's meaning that over £1200 was raised in total.
Tim said: "I'd like to thank McClure's for organising this, and in particular all the staff who had clearly put so much effort into this. With one stroke in the UK every five minutes, it's not surprising that we all know someone whose life has been affected by this. But this money will make a real difference to the Stroke Association, and allow them to continue their vital work.
"My thanks go to all the customers and suppliers who kindly donated such fantastic prizes, as well as to everyone who bought tickets for the raffle. This event was a great success, and has raised valuable funds for an important charity."
