South Lakes MP, Tim Farron, was in Milnthorpe on Friday afternoon to open a new furniture shop for Age UK South Lakeland.

The furniture shop, on Beetham Road, will raise funds for the South Lakeland branch of Age UK, which seeks to improve later life and support older people across the South Lakes through information and advice, campaigns, products, training and research.

Commenting after the opening Tim said: "I have worked with the team from Age UK South Lakeland for many years to campaign for a better deal for older people across the South Lakes so that they are able to live their lives as they wish without unfair obstacles. I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been able to be here today to open their new Furniture Outlet shop in my home village which will aim to raise even more fund for the Charity."
