Local MP Tim Farron was on hand on Friday to officially open new facilities at Coniston Sailing Club, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The club has built new facilities including changing rooms, toilets and showers. The building work was completed last year and the internal decoration was carried out by the club over this winter. The facilities were officially opened at an event on Friday with local MP Tim Farron.

Tim said: "It was a pleasure to officially open the smart new facilities at Coniston Sailing Club. The sailing club is not only a fantastic place for both local people and visitors of all abilities to sail, it is also a real community hub. The new facilities will be a major boost not just to the club but to Coniston village as a whole. Over the last 50 years the club has had a long and proud history and that success looks set to continue with these new facilities."
