Farron invites PM to holiday in the Lakes

15 Jun 2010

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today written Prime Minister David Cameron to invite him to take a holiday in the Lake District this year as part of a campaign to boost British tourism.

The aim of a visit by the Prime Minister would be to show support for Cumbria's tourism industry, as well as setting an example to the nation about the importance of holidaying at home this summer.

Commenting Tim said:

"I've written to the Prime Minister today to suggest that he holidays in the Lake District. I would like the Prime Minister to send a very clear signal to the country that Cumbria is open for business and is a fantastic place to visit. The Lake District is only a few hours on a train from London so it's really easy to get to. We really appreciated Gordon Brown's decision to holiday here last year and I hope David Cameron will follow suit."
