Farron hold Kendal College MP forum
Local MP Tim Farron was put under the political spotlight by students during a question and answer session at Kendal College.
Tim held his annual MP Forum on Friday afternoon and fielded questions from college students about his views on such topics as public transport and infrastructure. The main issue raised was the price of bus passes and the impact that this has on the lives of young people. The location of the bus stop was also discussed, as was Government funding on both a local and national level.
In his introduction, Tim explained how he had been a volunteer for the Liberals since he was 16, but worked as a senior manager in higher education at St Martin's College and at Ambleside Campus before winning the Westmorland and Lonsdale seat to become our local MP in 2005. He also spoke about the enjoyment he gets from his job.
Afterwards, Tim said: "Coming from a single-parent family, I wanted to highlight that my journey to becoming an MP wasn't an easy one."
"I was inspired by the students' engagement with politics and its implications on their everyday lives. Their questions were intelligent and, as always, it was insightful to listen to, and engage with, younger people who live and/or study in my constituency."
"Doing my MP Forum at the college is more nerve racking than being on Question Time!"
