With only a year to go until the London 2012 Olympic Games, local MP Tim Farron is supporting a campaign to inspire young people in the South Lakes area to run with the Olympic Flame.

The Olympic Flame passes through Bowness-on-Windermere next year on Thursday 21st June and so Tim has joined the Coca-Cola Future Flames campaign to highlight the best of British youth from the South Lakes.

A Future Flame is a young person who uses their passions, which can range from anything from physical activities to music and the environment, to help their local community.

Tim wants to help encourage potential Future Flames in the South Lakes area to come forward in order to be nominated for the campaign. The process is simple - just nominate the local person you think is deserving. Then, describe how their passion helps others to benefit and how they hope for their hope to develop their passion in the future. The process is open to all right now and nominations must be made by 5 September 2011.

If you know someone who you find inspiring in their commitment to their passions and you feel deserves to be recognised as a Future Flame in the South Lakes area, nominate them today at cokezone.co.uk.

Commenting, Tim said: "It's fantastic that amazing young people from the South Lakes area get the chance to be involved in such a once in a lifetime opportunity - to run with the Olympic Flame. I wish good luck to all potential Future Flames and I hope to encourage as many local people from South Lakeland as possible to get involved in order for their talents to given the recognition they deserve!"
