Farron encourages people to get involved in the Torchlight 2013 team

MP Tim Farron is urging people to get involved in the Kendal Torchlight Team 2013 to make sure the event takes place this year and is sustained.

The Kendal Torchlight Carnival was cancelled last year due to funding shortfalls and a lack of volunteers to marshal the event safely. Organisers were forced to cancel the event for the first time in 42 years and many in the local community were left disappointed.

It is vital that more people join the Torchlight Team 2013 to make sure the event goes ahead this year. There are various roles and responsibilities on the team still vacant from Sponsorship and Business Promotion, Carnival Content and Choreography as well as Finance and Treasure among others. Commenting Tim says "I'm committed to working with the community and others to make sure that the Carnival happens this year and is one of the best ever.
