Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and I am delighted that Kendal Nutricare has won this prestigious award from the FSB. Kendal Nutricare has been transformed over the last 18 months, and is now a world leader in its field, securing investment in our area and skilled jobs for local people. It is a worthy winner and I would like to congratulate Ross McMahon and everyone involved in the company for this impressive achievement.

"I'd also like to extend my congratulations to Skelwith Fold Caravan Park for winning the 'ethical business' award. Having recently visited their site I have seen first-hand their achievements and know they fully deserve this award in recognition of their efforts. Set in stunning grounds, their park is a shining example of the best of the Lake District.

"These awards show what a fantastic location the South Lakes is for small businesses. I am determined that we do even more to support entrepreneurs and small businesses to boost our economy and secure local jobs."
