This morning South Lakes MP Tim Farron has thanked local residents for their 'commitment and campaigning', after it was announced that the second fire engine at Kendal fire station will no longer be removed.
This morning the BBC announced that Cumbria County Council will not remove the second fire engine at five fire stations, including Kendal. Savings will be made in manning costs instead. Tim has been lobbying hard on the issue and making representations on behalf of fire fighters and local constituents.
Tim said: "This is great news and I'm delighted that the council have listened. I think this win is down to the hard work and commitment of local people and I want to pay tribute to them. The second fire engine in Kendal has been saved by them and their campaigning. I was pleased to play a part by supporting this local campaign."
