Farron Calls On Public To Speak Up For Mental Health Services
South Lakeland MP Tim Farron is encouraging residents to make their voices heard in a public consultation about the future of Kendal's mental health ward.
The Partnership Trust will hold a public drop-in session to allow the views of local residents to be heard. It will take place on Thursday 30th June, between 1-7pm at South Lakes Foyer, Yard 95, Stricklandgate, Kendal, LA9 4RA.
An online survey will also be available shortly.
The decision to close the Kentmere mental health ward was recently put on hold. A consultation will look again at the decision and will make a final decision at the end of the summer.
Tim said: "It is thanks to the vocal support of local people that this consultation is happening at all. I would encourage all those who have supported the campaign so far to go along and make their voices heard.
"In recent meetings with health bosses, I have made it clear that the services are highly valued by our community. Over five and a half thousand local people have already signed the petition opposing closure. Now is the public's chance to put their views to the Trust directly.
"Health bosses must make sure that this is not just a box-ticking exercise. These mental health services are critically important - they must not be taken away from South Lakeland."
