Farron calls on local residents to join him by becoming their communities' broadband pioneers
MP Tim Farron has today called on local residents to join him in his campaign to improve broadband in the South Lakes.
Tim is bringing in a scheme of 'broadband pioneers' who are volunteers from communities up and down the South Lakes who help Tim gauge local needs and help deal with practical issues in their area.
The broadband pioneers will be strong and effective local advocates for their community and will allow Tim to show there is a real need for fast broadband in our area.
Tim recently secured a pledge that South Lakeland will be included in the Broadband pilot scheme to cover the whole county. The Government has promised everyone broadband speeds of at least 2 megabits per second (MBps) by 2015.
If you would like to become you area's broadband pioneer please email Tim at tim@timfarron.co.uk and let him know what work is going on in your community to advance the fight to bring broadband to our area.
Tim said: "I know how many people are keen to be involved in the campaign to improve broadband provision in our area. I am asking these people to join with me and become pioneers for their community. South Lakes Broadband Pioneers will help me deal with practical local issues and help me deliver the superfast broadband that the South Lakes desperately needs."
