Tim Farron has called on Post Office Ltd to reduce the length of queues at Kendal's main post office.

MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron has called on Post Office Ltd to end excessive waiting times after local residents were forced to queue for up to twenty minutes at Kendal Post Office.

Queuing times are thought to have increased following the closure of the nearby Longpool Post Office. Mr Farron has written to the Chief Executive of Post Office Ltd calling for more resources to be committed to resolve the situation.

Commenting, Tim said:

"Having to wait in line for twenty minutes just to buy a book of stamps is completely unacceptable.

"Having to queue for such a long time is uncomfortable and tiring for the many elderly residents who rely on the post office for its unique service.

"Basic problems like these are just further evidence that the recent restructuring of the Post Office has done nothing to strengthen the Post Office Network. Post Office Ltd must act immediately to bring an end to this problem as queuing times are only going to worsen as we approach the Christmas period."
