CQC event in Kendal gives MP opportunity to call for further services at WGH

At last night’s CQC listening event at Kendal College South Lakes MP Tim Farron, he pressed for higher staffing levels on the wards and for more services to be brought back to Westmorland General Hospital.

The consultations in Kendal, Lancaster and Barrow were run by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). They form part of a fortnight-long inspection of the trust. At the event at Kendal College last night around 40 local people came along to discuss health care issues at the trust.

Tim said: "Last night was a fantastic event and it was great to see so many people there. I raised the need for more staff on wards with inspectors. However the easiest thing we can do to improve local health services is to bring more services back to Westmorland General.

"I also raised with inspectors that the trust has made major and noticeable strides in improving health services and that has been noticed by local residents. I asked the inspectors to keep a close eye on that and make sure that we don't slip back."
