South Lakes MP Tim Farron joined forces with local councilors and residents recently to help clean up the Kirkbarrow estate in Kendal.

South Lakeland District councilors Julie Dawson and Kendal Town councillor Brendan Jameson, Tim and local residents started the litter pick at Ghyllside School car park, and collected 12 sacks of rubbish from public areas around the estate.

Speaking after the pick Tim said: "The litter pick showed me that residents and especially young people care about the communities they live in and want to contribute to keep it clean and tidy, I am pleased to have lent a hand today and have seen community spirit in action."
