New leadership needed at South Lakes & North Lancashire hospital trust

Speaking this afternoon following the resignation of Tony Halsall, Chief Executive of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, local MP Tim Farron said:

"New leadership is needed to turn our hospitals around so this is the right decision. I have said that we need swift and decisive change and so I welcome today's news.

"When I met the new interim chair, Sir David Henshaw, this afternoon I said we needed a new start to build on the fantastic work of the doctors, nurses and staff and turn around the trust.

"However, we should also recognise that working with Tony Halsall helped bring chemotherapy to Westmorland General, and we would not have made as much progress on the campaign for radiotherapy without him."
